New to this? What darshan, seva and puja mean.

Three words you will meet on every page here, in plain terms.

Darshan
To see and be seen by the deity: a visit to the shrine, standing before the image, in prayer.
Seva
Service offered with devotion. At a temple it can mean helping with upkeep, offering food or flowers, or supporting its charitable work.
Puja
A ritual of worship, usually with offerings such as flowers, a lamp and incense, performed by a priest or by the devotee.

Temple World is an independent directory. It gathers what temples and public records publish about each shrine and rite, and points you to the temple's own desk. It does not run temples, take payments from devotees or sell darshan.

Questions people ask first

Does Temple World take payment or book darshan?

No. Temple World takes no payment from devotees and does not book darshan or rites. Booking, price and fulfilment sit with the temple, or with a provider such as Pooja World that you reach through a link.

Who performs a rite listed here?

Temple World does not perform rites. Each rite page describes the rite as the temple or ritual references publish it. Who performs it is the provider's to state, so ask before you book.

How long does a rite take?

Each rite page shows the duration as recorded in its sources, usually an approximate range. Treat it as a guide and confirm with the temple or provider.

What proof or confirmation will I get?

That depends on the provider, not on Temple World. We cannot promise a recording or a prasad dispatch. Read what a provider commits to before you book.

Can I just visit the temple myself?

Yes. Shrine pages link to the temple's own site and a map where we have them. Timings change, so confirm with the temple before you travel.
