Prices well above the going rate
Share autos wait at the temple door and charge 60 to 100 rupees a person for the short hop to Kamakshi Amman or Varadaraja Perumal. Some pack eight people into a three-seat auto.
What to do. Fix the fare before you sit. A visitor paid about 50 rupees from Kamakshi in five minutes, and the walk from the town centre is about 1 km. Skip overloaded share autos.
