Prices well above the going rate
E-rickshaw and auto drivers ignore the posted fare, raise the price several times after dusk, and refuse to move unless you hire the whole vehicle. Unsolicited drivers also approach visitors for longer rides.
What to do. Agree the fare before you sit, using the temple help desk as a check. For Delhi or Agra taxis, book through the ISKCON Welcome Center and decline drivers who walk up unasked.

People posing as priests or guides
Taxi drivers and self-styled guides take first-time visitors into side lanes, sit them before images, recite a short puja, then press for a set donation of several thousand rupees and a fake receipt.
What to do. Walk into known temples on your own and use the ISKCON Welcome Center for local travel help. Put any gift you choose in a temple donation box; do not hand cash to a guide or a priest who names a package amount.
