Dakshineswar is the 19th-century Kali temple on the Hooghly, famed as the sacred seat of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa. Its nine-spired Navaratna main shrine is dedicated to Bhavatarini, the saviour Kali who carries devotees across the ocean of worldly existence. At the gates

  • “VIP” and “quick darshan” passes

People outside the gate offer paid VIP entry, fast-track darshan, or special blessings. The temple trust does not sell VIP or skip-the-line tickets; general entry is free.

What to do. Walk past anyone selling a quicker line and join the ordinary darshan queue. Follow temple volunteers and use only the trust’s own counters and website.
