Badrinath Temple
A high-Himalayan Char Dham shrine to Vishnu, set beside the Alaknanda river and open only through the warmer months. Badrinath sits in the Garhwal Himalayas at over three thousand metres, dedicated to Vishnu in his meditating form. It is one of the Char Dham of the larger pilgrimage circuit and one of the holiest Vaishnava sites in the north. Snowbound for half the year, the temple opens each spring in a ceremony that marks the start of the Himalayan pilgrim season.

A bath house over hot sulphur springs. The water stays hot the whole year while the air outside stays cold, and pilgrims wash here before they go up for darshan.
Where it is
It lies between the temple and the Alaknanda River, on the slope just below the shrine.
Visitor tip
Take the dip first. Many pilgrims treat bathing here as a duty before they walk up to the shrine.

At the gates
Donation collectors who are not from the temple
QR-code boards and stickers were put at Badrinath temple gates asking pilgrims to donate digitally. The temple committee said it did not install them, took them down, and police registered a cheating case.
What to do. Give money only through the committee’s own donation page on badrinath-kedarnath.gov.in or the bank details printed there. Do not scan a random QR board at the gate.
