Maa Amba (Shakti) · Gujarat
Ambaji Temple
One of the 51 Shakti Peethams and a revered centre of Shakta worship in Ambaji town, with Gabbar Hill a separate pilgrimage stop. The main Ambaji temple stands in Ambaji town, where the Shree Visa Yantra is worshipped rather than an idol. One of the 51 Shakti Peethams, it is a beloved shrine of Maa Amba, the Mother goddess. Gabbar Hill is a separate shrine revered as the goddess's original seat, not the site of the town temple. Check the trust's current darshan periods before travelling.

Other things visitors have reported
Outsourced counting staff hid cash from temple donation notes during weekly counting. The trust later put counting on live screens and police frisks.
What to do. Give offerings only at official counters or on ambajitemple.in and take a receipt. Counting is now shown live at Chachar Chowk.

Online, before you travel
Look-alike booking sites and apps
Someone posing as hotel staff after an online search for a room near the temple asks for an advance on a QR code, then keeps asking for more transfers, including a cancellation fee, until the account is emptied.
What to do. Do not pay advances from numbers or QR codes found only on a search listing. Use the temple trust site ambajitemple.in for official services, and book rooms only through a number confirmed with the hotel at the desk.

At the gates
Charges to leave shoes, phones or bags
At shoe and mobile lockers, workers ask visitors to donate money to them personally after depositing phones or footwear.
What to do. Use the lockers only as a deposit; extra cash to workers is not a listed temple fee. Keep valuables with you as the trust asks, and leave phones in the car if you prefer.

Parking and drop-off
Prices well above the going rate
People at the town entrance wave cars toward private parking instead of the official pay-and-use lot. At the official lot, a gate worker may try to force extra compliance.
What to do. Ignore street parking callers and use the marked pay-and-use car park. Do not park on public roads.

On the road in
Other things visitors have reported
On the Hadad–Ambaji road at night, a group throws stones at passing cars of pilgrims going to Ambaji or Ranuja, then tries to rob them.
What to do. Travel that stretch in daylight when you can, keep doors locked, and report any stop to Hadad police rather than paying at the roadside.

In the darshan queue
“VIP” and “quick darshan” passes
Some people say paid VIP darshan is available for a large cash amount. The trust says there is no paid VIP system and later locked the VIP gate so everyone uses the same queue.
What to do. Do not pay anyone for special entry. Stand in the regular line; closer help is described only for older visitors in some cases.
