ಹನ್ನೆರಡು ಜ್ಯೋತಿರ್ಲಿಂಗಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮೊದಲನೆಯದಾದ ಈ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರ ಅರಬ್ಬಿ ಸಮುದ್ರ ತೀರದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತಿದೆ — ಶತಮಾನಗಳಾದ್ಯಂತ ನಾಶವಾಗಿ, ಮರುನಿರ್ಮಾಣಗೊಂಡಿದೆ. ಸೋಮನಾಥವು ಶಿವನ ಹನ್ನೆರಡು ಜ್ಯೋತಿರ್ಲಿಂಗ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮೊದಲನೆಯದಾಗಿ ಪೂಜಿಸಲ್ಪಡುತ್ತದೆ, ಗುಜರಾತಿನ ಭೂಮಿ ಅರಬ್ಬಿ ಸಮುದ್ರವನ್ನು ಸೇರುವಲ್ಲಿ ನೆಲೆಸಿದೆ. ಇದರ ಇತಿಹಾಸವು ಪದೇಪದೇ ವಿನಾಶ ಮತ್ತು ದೃಢ ಪುನರ್ನಿರ್ಮಾಣದ್ದಾಗಿದೆ, ಆಧುನಿಕ ದೇವಾಲಯವು ಆ ಸಹಿಷ್ಣುತೆಯ ಸಂಕೇತವಾಗಿ ನಿಂತಿದೆ. ಸಮುದ್ರಾಭಿಮುಖ ಗರ್ಭಗುಡಿ ಮತ್ತು ಅದರಾಚೆಗಿನ ಅಖಂಡ ದಿಗಂತವು ಈ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ಸರಳವಾದ, ಮೂಲಭೂತ ಶಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ನೀಡುತ್ತವೆ.

ದರ್ಶನ ಯಾತ್ರೆಓದಲು 1 ನಿಮಿಷಗಳು→ಇದರ ಸ್ಥಾಪನೆ — ಹಲವಾರು ಬಾರಿ ಧ್ವಂಸಗೊಂಡು, ಪುನಃಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟ ಒಂದು ಪುರಾತನ ಕರಾವಳಿ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರ; ಸ್ವಾತಂತ್ರ್ಯದ ನಂತರ ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತ ದೇವಾಲಯವನ್ನು ಮರುನಿರ್ಮಿಸಿ 1951ರಲ್ಲಿ ಪೂರ್ಣಗೊಳಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.

One tall stone temple standing on the open shore, with the Arabian Sea at its feet. The walk is short: a free gate, a cloak room, two pillared halls, the jyotirlinga, then a few side shrines, a sea ghat and an arrow pillar pointing south. Two stops sit outside the temple grounds — the museum up the lane to the north, and the river ghat 1.5 km to the south.

Main Gate
The way in to the temple. Nobody pays to enter. Wheelchairs and a golf cart wait here for older and disabled pilgrims, so ask at the gate before you start walking.

Look-alike sites copy the trust’s guest-house names, photos and logo, rank high in search ads, take UPI or QR payments, then send fake booking receipts. Some listings also appeared on Agoda without the trust’s permission.
What to do. Book Sagar Darshan, Maheshwari and Lilavati rooms only on somnath.org, or at the trust’s Somnath or Ahmedabad counters. Do not pay on WhatsApp, a private number or a QR code. If a booking is missing on arrival, call 1930.

Donation collectors who are not from the temple
Cloned pages and phone contacts ask for pooja or donation money on a private number, WhatsApp, UPI or QR. The trust says it does not collect room, pooja or donation payments that way.
What to do. Give pooja and donations only on somnath.org, at the temple pooja-vidhi counter, or in the donation box, and ask the office staff for a receipt. Do not transfer money to a personal UPI or WhatsApp number.

“VIP” and “quick darshan” passes
Look-alike websites, ads and agents sell “VIP”, “special” or paid-entry darshan. The trust says there is no paid VIP queue and every devotee uses the same darshan line.
What to do. Do not pay anyone for a special pass. Temple entry is free. Book pooja or rooms only on somnath.org and report VIP-pass demands to the trust helpline or police.

Fake dharamshala website network
A later racket built many look-alike dharamshala, ashram and hotel sites for pilgrimage towns, including Somnath. Callers posed as reception staff and took advance room money that was never honoured.
What to do. Do not pay a caller who claims to be a Somnath hotel or trust desk after you filled a form on a search-ad site. Confirm any stay on somnath.org or by phoning the trust guest-house numbers printed on that site.

Fake sites copy official spellings and layouts, then sell Somnath yatra tour packages and similar bookings. After payment there is no trip and no refund.

What to do. Pay only through somnath.org. If anyone asks for a security deposit by bank transfer or UPI after a Google or WhatsApp booking, stop and check the booking on the trust site or helpline before sending more money.

Pairs work crowded spots around Somnath and the Veraval bus stand. One group watches the crowd while others take cash and phones from purses.
