ರಾವಣ ವಧೆಯ ಪಾಪವನ್ನು ಕಳೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ರಾಮನು ಪೂಜಿಸಿದ, ದಕ್ಷಿಣದ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ತುದಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಜ್ಯೋತಿರ್ಲಿಂಗ ಇದು. ರಾಮನಾಥಸ್ವಾಮಿ ಹನ್ನೆರಡು ಜ್ಯೋತಿರ್ಲಿಂಗ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಮತ್ತು ಚಾರ್ ಧಾಮ್ ಯಾತ್ರಾಪೀಠಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು. ರಾವಣನನ್ನು ಸಂಹರಿಸಿದ ನಂತರ ರಾಮನು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಾಯಶ್ಚಿತ್ತವಾಗಿ ಶಿವನನ್ನು ಪೂಜಿಸಿ ರಾಮೇಶ್ವರವನ್ನು ಪವಿತ್ರಗೊಳಿಸಿದನು. ಜಿಲ್ಲಾಡಳಿತವು ಕೆತ್ತನೆಯ ಕಂಬಗಳಿರುವ ಉದ್ದನೆಯ ಮೂರನೇ ಕಾರಿಡಾರ್ ಅನ್ನು ವಿವರಿಸುತ್ತದೆ; ದೇವಾಲಯ ಇಲಾಖೆಯು ಆವರಣದೊಳಗಿನ 22 ತೀರ್ಥಗಳನ್ನು ಪಟ್ಟಿ ಮಾಡುತ್ತದೆ. ಯಾತ್ರಿಕರು ಈ ಪವಿತ್ರ ಜಲಗಳನ್ನು ಪೂಜಿಸಿ ಪಾಪ ಮತ್ತು ಕರ್ಮಭಾರ ತೊಳೆದುಹೋಗಲೆಂದು ಆಶಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ.

ದಾಖಲೆಓದಲು 1 ನಿಮಿಷಗಳು→ಇದರ ಸ್ಥಾಪನೆ — ರಾಮನು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಲಿಂಗವನ್ನು ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಿ ಪೂಜಿಸಿದನು. ಜಿಲ್ಲಾಡಳಿತದ ಪ್ರಕಾರ, ಸೇತುಪತಿ ಮರವರರ ಆಳ್ವಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ 12ನೇ ಶತಮಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ದೇವಾಲಯದ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭವಾಯಿತು.

“VIP” and “quick darshan” passes
People without temple permission walk the corridors and offer special darshan by a side path. They set the price by how much they think the pilgrim will pay, instead of the posted special-darshan ticket. Brokers also mark up rudra, kalasa, and panchamrita pujas far above the temple rate.
What to do. Buy special or quick darshan and paid abhishekam only at the official counters. Ignore anyone who offers a shortcut queue inside.

Prices well above the going rate
On busy ancestral-offering days, auto drivers demand a high flat fare from the bus stand to the temple, and priests ask about three times the usual fee for sea-side rites. Buses on the same stretch have also charged above the ordinary fare.
What to do. Agree the auto fare before you sit. Use the ordinary bus or the temple’s battery cars for older pilgrims. Confirm any priest’s fee before the rite starts.

Look-alike booking sites and apps
Private websites advertise paid online slots for darshan or theertham as if they were the temple. General darshan does not need a booking, and day tickets are issued at the counters.

People posing as priests or guides
People in white shirts and veshtis, often sent by a hotel or taxi, offer a special abhishekam and darshan package for a large fee paid at the end. After a short well bath and puja they add extra dakshina, a rice offering called mudo, and charges for water poured.
What to do. Walk in for free general darshan. Buy any paid spatika, special, or quick ticket only at the temple’s own counters. Do not hire a freelance guide for a bundled puja.

Pitru homam package deals
Private priests sell thila homam and related ancestor rites as a package that includes a hotel they choose. Some reuse the same naga stone, clothes, coconuts, and grain for the next family instead of completing a fresh rite.
What to do. Book your own room. Pay only for the rite you asked for, after you see the materials used. Do not accept a bundled hotel as a condition of the homam.
