What the Begur records establish
The Census handbook describes the Nageshvara temple as Dravidian in style and notes two female figures beside the entrance to its navaranga. It describes a separate Kamatheshvara shrine in the same complex. The government audit lists the Begur complex in Bengaluru South taluk, Bengaluru Urban district.
The handbook dates a Bengaluru-referencing inscription on the Kamatheshvara verandah to about 900 CE; it separately describes a 920 CE battle hero stone. Neither date establishes when the Nageshvara shrine was built, and neither record confirms what is on view today.
Current hours, entry fees, facilities, accessibility and the exact entrance are unverified. Confirm locally before making a time-sensitive trip. Sources checked 25 September 2026: Census district handbook and CAG archaeology audit.
