Golden Temple (Harmandir Sahib)
শিখ ধর্মের সবচেয়ে পবিত্র গুরুদ্বার, যার সোনার প্রলেপ দেওয়া গর্ভগৃহ একটি পবিত্র সরোবরের কেন্দ্র থেকে উত্থিত, যা সকল ধর্মের জন্য উন্মুক্ত। হরমন্দির সাহিব, স্বর্ণমন্দির, অমৃত সরোবরের মাঝখানে অবস্থিত, যে অমৃত-সরোবর থেকেই অমৃতসর নামটি এসেছে। এর চারটি দরজা চার দিকের দিকে মুখ করে আছে, এই ইঙ্গিত দিতে যে এটি সকল পটভূমির মানুষকে স্বাগত জানায়। গুরু গ্রন্থ সাহিবের অবিরাম পাঠ এবং বিনামূল্যে লঙ্গর রান্নাঘর শিখ ধর্মের ভক্তি ও সমান সেবার আদর্শকে প্রকাশ করে।
অমৃতসর-এর ভিতরে দর্শনের পথ।
দর্শনযাত্রাপড়তে 4 মিনিট→এর প্রতিষ্ঠা — পবিত্র সরোবরটি ১৫৭৭ সালে সম্পূর্ণ হয় এবং কেন্দ্রীয় মন্দিরটি ১৬০৪ সালে, যখন গুরু অর্জন এতে আদি গ্রন্থ স্থাপন করেন।

ভেতরে যাওয়ার আগে জোতা ঘরে জুতা রেখে আসতে হয় এবং মাথা ঢাকতে হয়; প্রবেশপথে মাথার আবরণ পাওয়া যায়। একটি অগভীর চ্যানেল দিয়ে হেঁটে পা ধোয়া হয়, তারপর সিঁড়ি দিয়ে নামতে হয় — মন্দিরটি রাস্তার স্তরের নিচে অবস্থিত, আপনি সেখানে নেমে যান।

সোনার প্রলেপমণ্ডিত কেন্দ্রীয় মন্দির, কজওয়ে ধরে পৌঁছানো যায়। এর চারটি দরজা চার দিকে খোলা — সবার জন্য উন্মুক্ত এই চিহ্ন হিসেবে। ভেতরে গুরু গ্রন্থ সাহেব পাঠ হয় এবং গুরবাণী গাওয়া হয়।

বেরোবার সময় দুই হাতের কাপের মতো করে নেওয়া হয়, এবং কে তা নিচ্ছে তা বিচার না করে সবাইকে সমানভাবে দেওয়া হয়।

কজওয়ের ঠিক উল্টোদিকে, শিখধর্মে কালিকালীন কর্তৃত্বের আসন এবং কমপ্লেক্সের দ্বিতীয় প্রধান ভবন।
স্থান: — হরমন্দির সাহেবের ঠিক সামনে। - গুরু-কা-লঙ্গর
যে রান্নাঘরে আসা সকলকে খাওয়ানো হয়, মেঝেতে সারিতে বসে — জাত, ধর্ম বা সঙ্গতির কোনো ভেদাভেদ নেই। দর্শনার্থীরা মাখা, পরিবেশন বা পরিষ্কারের কাজে একবার করে অংশ নিতে পারেন।

হরমন্দির সাহেব ও আকাল তখতের মধ্যে গুরু গ্রন্থ সাহেবকে পালকিতে বহন করা হয়, এবং সংগতরা তা যাওয়ার সময় বাঁশের খুঁটিতে একবার করে ধরেন। সময় ঋতু ও উৎসবের দিন অনুযায়ী পরিবর্তিত হয় — সন্ধ্যেটা সেই অনুযায়ী মেলানোর আগে এসজিপিসি-র সাথে দেখে নিন।

ঘড়ি-টাওয়ার প্রবেশপথের ভেতরে, শিখ ইতিহাসের চিত্রকর্ম, অস্ত্র ও পাণ্ডুলিপি সংরক্ষিত আছে।
স্থান: — কমপ্লেক্সের মূল গেটে। - জালিয়ানওয়ালাবাগ
যে পরিখাবেষ্টিত উদ্যানে 1919 সালের গণহত্যা সংঘটিত হয়েছিল। এটি মন্দির-কমপ্লেক্সের সাথে সংলগ্ন, এবং সরু প্রবেশ-পথটি আজও রয়েছে।

কখন আসবেন
এপ্রিলে বৈশাখী এবং শরতের শেষে গুরু নানকের গুরপুরব বছরের সবচেয়ে বড় সংগতকে টানে, এবং বন্দী ছোড় দিবাসে এই কমপ্লেক্স আলোয় সাজানো হয়। তারিখগুলি এসজিপিসি প্রকাশ করে।
লঙ্গর সেবা
পূজা নয় — এটি একটি সেবা। সবাই মেঝেতে সারিতে বসে একই খাবার খান, এবং যে কেউ মাখা, রান্না বা পরিষ্কারের কাজে যোগ দিতে পারেন। কেউ কারও চেয়ে ঊর্ধ্বে নন — শিখ শিক্ষার এটিই বাস্তব রূপ।
লঙ্গরে নিজের হাতে সেবা, রান্নাঘরে শস্য বা অর্থের অনুদান, অথবা মন্দিরের ভেতরে গোলক-এ আধা-ভেট।
শিরোমণি গুরুদুয়ারা প্রবন্ধক কমিটি (এসজিপিসি), যারা কমপ্লেক্স, এর লঙ্গর ও সরাইগুলি পরিচালনা করে। তৃতীয় পক্ষের মাধ্যমে নয়, কমপ্লেক্সের ভেতরেই দিন।
মন্দিরের আশপাশের শহর
- কমপ্লেক্সটি প্রাচীরবেষ্টিত এবং পায়ে হেঁটে প্রবেশ করতে হয়; গেটের ঠিক বাইরেই পুরনো শহরের বাজারগুলি।
- এসজিপিসি কমপ্লেক্সের পাশে সরাই — তীর্থযাত্রীদের থাকার জায়গা — চালায়। এসজিপিসি-র মাধ্যমেই বুক করুন ও তারা কী ভাড়া নেয় দেখে নিন, কোনো দালালের মাধ্যমে নয়।
- ভেতরে সর্বত্র মাথা ঢাকা ও পা খোলা থাকবে। তামাক ও মদ্যপানীয় কিছুই সঙ্গে নেওয়া যাবে না।
- জালিয়ানওয়ালাবাগ কমপ্লেক্সের সাথে সংলগ্ন এবং পার্টিশন মিউজিয়াম একই পুরনো শহরে, তাই দ্বিতীয় দিনে গাড়ির দরকার নেই।
- সন্ধ্যায় ওয়াগা সীমান্তের আচার-অনুষ্ঠানই অমৃতসর থেকে সাধারণ বেরোনো।

ভোরের আগে থেকে রাতে সুখাসন পর্যন্ত গুরবাণী গীত হয়, এবং পালকি সাহিবের শোভাযাত্রা হরমন্দির সাহিব ও অকাল তখতের মধ্যে গুরু গ্রন্থ সাহিবকে বহন করে। ঋতু ও নানকশাহী পঞ্জিকা অনুসারে সময় পরিবর্তিত হয় — ভ্রমণের আগে SGPC-র নিজস্ব ওয়েবসাইটে যাচাই করুন। এই সময়গুলি শুধু তথ্যসূত্র, বর্তমান সময়সূচি নয়। যাত্রার আগে মন্দির কর্তৃপক্ষের কাছে বর্তমান সময় নিশ্চিত করুন।

A walled courtyard wrapped around one big square pool, with a gold-covered shrine standing on a platform in the middle of the water. A single causeway reaches it. Everything else — the seat of authority, the old trees, the free kitchen — sits on the marble walkway that rings the pool.

Ghanta Ghar Deori (Clock Tower Entrance)
The main way in. A clock sits over the arch and a Sikh history museum fills the floor above it. A red-brick Gothic clock tower stood here in British times; the Sikh community pulled it down and put this gentler entrance in its place.

Online, before you travel
Look-alike booking sites and apps
Look-alike websites and QR codes use Golden Temple and SGPC sarai photos to take advance payment for rooms at inns such as Saragarhi Niwas. After the money is sent, the booking is not on the real list and the contact numbers stop working.
What to do. Book only on the SGPC site www.sgpcsarai.com. Do not pay by a mobile number, QR code, or any other link, and do not send a 50 percent advance asked off that site.

On the road in
Prices well above the going rate
E-rickshaw and auto drivers around Heritage Street, the temple lanes, and the nearby parking quote a high flat fare because there is no posted official rate. Some also park in the way so visitors feel they have no other choice.
What to do. Fix the fare before you sit, or use an app taxi. A free SGPC shuttle also runs from Amritsar Junction toward the temple approach.

At the gates
People posing as priests or guides
People at the Clock Tower and Ghanta Ghar approaches present themselves as temple volunteers and offer a tour or special access that is already free. They then ask for money or walk visitors to a shop that pays them a commission.
What to do. Decline unsolicited guides at the gate. SGPC runs complimentary guides in white kurtas or jackets from the information office and parikrama, and entry itself has no ticket.

Charges to leave shoes, phones or bags
People standing near the shoe racks say there is a charge to watch or store footwear. The official jora ghar counters issue a numbered token and do not sell that service.
What to do. Use only the marked free shoe-deposit counters at the gates and keep the token. Do not pay anyone standing beside the racks.

Crowd theft and snatching
Thieves work the Golden Temple complex and the standing queues, taking purses, cash, and mobile phones from devotees in the crowd.
What to do. Keep the phone and wallet in a front pocket or a zipped inner bag while you wait. Extra bags can go to the free cloakroom so you carry less in the queue.

Donation collectors who are not from the temple
A well-dressed person outside the Golden Temple pretends to be a visitor who has lost a purse or bag and asks for cash or a UPI transfer to get home. The same story is repeated to many people in the same lanes.
What to do. Do not send money to a stranger on the street. If you wish to give, use the official donation boxes inside the complex, which issue a receipt.

Prices well above the going rate
Sellers on the pedestrian lanes just outside the complex offer karah prasad at a high price and suggest it is needed before you go in. Prasad inside the shrine is given as part of the visit, not sold at the gate.
What to do. Do not buy prasad on the approach roads. Accept karah prasad inside the complex, and eat langar in the community kitchen at no charge.
