Dwarkadhish Temple

The temple stands on a small hill above the Gomti creek, close to the sea. The visit is a climb and a crossing: bathe at the river ghat, go up the 56 steps to the south door, cross the hall to the sanctum under the flagged spire, and leave by the north door into the market.

Gomti Ghat

A run of stone steps down to the Gomti river. Devotees bathe here before they go up to the temple, and small shrines to the sea, to Saraswati and to Lakshmi stand along the water.

এটি কোথায়

It lies below the back of the temple, at the foot of the flight of steps that comes down on the river side.

দর্শনার্থীর পরামর্শ

Bathe first, then climb. The dip belongs before darshan, not after it.

Online, before you travel

  • Look-alike booking sites and apps

Look-alike websites copied hotels, dharamshalas and trusts near pilgrimage towns, including Dwarka, then took advance UPI or bank payments for rooms that were not there. One domain examined by police used a Dwarka lodging name.

What to do. Book stay on the property’s known site, by phone at the hotel desk, or through Gujarat Tourism lodging. Do not pay an advance on a site you found only in a search ad. Report a failed booking on the 1930 cyber helpline.

  • “VIP” and “quick darshan” passes

Apps and people offer paid VIP, priority or instant darshan at Jagat Mandir even though the temple does not sell a skip-the-line ticket. One named Android app listed Dwarka and Bet Dwarka with per-person charges for same-day darshan.

What to do. Join the ordinary queue. Do not pay an app, website, phone number or person for faster darshan. Check current visitor information on the Dwarka shrine's own site, www.dwarkadhish.org.

  • Fake prasad gharmandir APP

A look-alike religious service sold paid makhan-mishri, garlands and other offerings in the temple’s name and promised doorstep delivery. The temple says those offerings are not sold that way.

What to do. Buy or dedicate bhog only in person at the temple or through the trust’s own listing on dwarkadhish.org. Official prasad is prepared in the Bhog Bhandar and given out on the temple premises, not by a third-party app.

Around the town

  • Donation collectors who are not from the temple

Someone issued forged receipts for Dhwaja flag offerings at Shree Dwarkadhish Temple and took bank transfers for the bookings. The receipts did not carry the trust’s official contact details.

What to do. Confirm any Dhwaja date with the body that manages the flag ritual at the temple before you pay. Refuse a receipt that lacks official trust contact details, and do not send money to a private account.

At the gates

  • People posing as priests or guides

People near the entrance present themselves as priests and ask for money for a special darshan that the temple does not sell.

What to do. Walk past them and join the public queue. The trust says no person is authorised to sell VIP or priority darshan offline.

Around the temple

  • Prices well above the going rate

Boat owners on the Okha–Bet Dwarka crossing collected fares by hand, charged more than the port rate, and loaded more people than the boat was meant to carry.

What to do. Buy the ticket at the official window at Okha jetty, not from a boat owner on the jetty. The notified fare was Rs 20 for an adult and Rs 10 for a child, and passengers are told to wear life jackets.
