Satyanarayan Katha is a vrat in which the five chapters of the katha, from the Skanda Purana tradition, are read before Vishnu in his Satyanarayan form. Aarti and prasad follow.

Sankalp, invocation of Satyanarayana, recitation of all five chapters of the katha (from the Skanda Purana) in sequence — tradition holds the reading should not stop midway — then aarti and prasad (typically sheera with banana).
